In 1993, the first Center, the Massachusetts Scottish Rite Foundation, was established in Newtonville, MA by J. Philip Berquist. At that time Massachusetts General Hospital provided the training for teachers and the Learning Center provided a place for those teachers to do their practicum.
In 1994, the program was adopted by Supreme Council as their fourth charity, the Scottish Rite Learning Centers. Today about 50 Children’s Dyslexia Centers are now open in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction offering tutoring services to dyslexic children and training to teachers.
