Students
Students receive one-on-one Orton-Gillingham tutoring twice a week for 50 minutes each session. Utilizing this multi-sensory approach to reading, writing and spelling, the lessons are customized for each child. Applicants must have been evaluated and have a primary diagnosis of dyslexia or a language-based learning disability.
Services are free-of-charge. Children are taken on a first come first served basis.
To apply, please call the Center at 617-965-3960.
Tutors
All tutors must have completed a year-long training program with 100 hours of practicum. The majority of our tutors have had numerous years of Orton-Gillingham tutoring experience and all are IMSLEC certified. Tutors prepare multi-sensory, interactive lessons customized for each child teaching them in a way they best learn.
Scholars
The Center accepts a handful of scholar applications each year. Chosen scholars will be part of a practicum program where they tutor two children for one year. This includes 45 hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of 100 hours of practicum. The program begins in September and concludes the following August. This will entitle each scholar certification on the Initial Level.
This program is offered free-of-charge to scholars.
